The existing main engines removed and disposed of; the existing 8V92 Detroit Diesel starboard engine, and also, the port Cummins engine.
Both engines were replaced with remanufactured NT855 Cummins engines, approx. 370 – 400 hp each, for a total of 740 – 800 total HP A remanufactured starboard 20KW generator with a remanufactured 2-71 Detroit Diesel engine was added. (The tug had only one generator) All exhaust was checked, repaired, and re-wrapped with new insulation by a professional insulation company.
The galley, wheel house, head and bunk room was cleaned and we installed new walls, ceilings, kitchen cabinets, etc and flooring.
The rudders were dropped, shafts built up, new bearings installed, replaced.
Boat was white metal blasted and plate was added to the hull where needed.
Hull was then painted
Keel coolers were checked and repaired.
Fuel tanks were completely emptied, access hatches were removed, tanks cleaned and new fuel added A USCG sanitary sewer treatment plant was added with overboard discharge.
Deck hatch access covers were cut out and replaced with new ones.
Deck bits and winches were repaired and painted.
The bow potable water tank, and the aft compartment was cleaned and repairs made as needed.
All damaged steel on the hull was removed and replaced with new steel and then painted.
Bilges were cleaned and repainted.
Decks were blasted and repainted.
Plenty of other cosmetic and mechanical stuff was done too.
